Fashion Parade: A Youth-led Collective of Change Makers

ree

Sustainability is no longer a choice. It’s a necessity, and boy do we need a catalyst for change. Eco-fashion is literally defined as, “a movement and process of fostering change to fashion products and the fashion system, towards greater ecological integrity and social justice.” Thus, sustainable fashion is more than just addressing fashion textiles or products; it can range from anything from regenerative agriculture to retailing practices.

Although there are pockets of change, including individuals making an effort to reduce their impact, the fashion supply chain is still the second biggest polluter after oil, and that will not be easy to change. But if we all pledge to be just a little more environmentally-responsible, together we can change the fashion industry. After all, the customer is king.

This is where Fashion Parade comes in - a youth-led, ground-up initiative, raising awareness about sustainable fashion in Singapore. Our collective is passionate about taking real action by reaching out to stakeholders within the fashion ecosystem.

Through our #ipromise pledge, we are encouraging the shoppers of tomorrow to shift their priorities towards being conscious consumers of fashion. Globalisation is passé - we want to promote and encourage consumers to shop locally, from brands with ethics, transparency and who take responsibility for their actions.

By encouraging public participation, Fashion Parade aims to educate consumers and end throw-away culture. The initiative seeks to lead the way for consumers to adopt sustainable fashion choices such as thrifting, swapping, reusing, upcycling, or simply having a capsule wardrobe!

Join Fashion Parade by taking a pledge today and be the change you seek. Every pledge makes a difference!
